Nightlife Spot: Barracuda Bar
I was looking for a nice bar to watch the World Cup 2006 and support my Swiss Soccer team for the match against South Korea. I find The Barracuda bar, a sport theme bar set close to Liverpool Street/Aldgate Station.
You could watch your favorite sport on some 15 plasma screens and 2 big screens. A VIP area can be booked for up to 150 people. The evening was great, I met also some French fans supporting les Bleus against the Togo. A cheerful athmosphere.
To drink a large choice of beers and pub food with a South African orientation. For wine I would recommend a nice Tempranillo Fortius from Spain. So what an international mix for a big night. I even discover and taste Savanna Cider (with a surprising sweet lemon taste) thanks to the local VTer's ambassador JO ;-)

Fabric Nightclub: For a vibrating night...

Nightlife Spot: Fabric Nightclub
Many people said to me that this place is probably one of the best club in London. So I had a great night there but nothing transcending except the incredible sound system. The music literally go trough you thanks to a unique bodysonic dance floor which pumps out bass frequencies through the floor, giving a sublime and surprising sensation through the feet and up to your head...
This underground venue has of course an underground music policy playing breaks, drum n bass, house, techno and electro. Live music show on stage were great. The athmosphere was relax and people friendly. Check the music style which could change depending on the night choosen (FRI, SAT or SUN) and live group presented.
Air conditionning, bars service and security staff very efficient. The decor around the three rooms is mainly brick walls, high ceilings, leather sofas and heavy steel trimmings, Fabric’s interior is industrial cool. Unisex toilet is surprising and fun, the only place with the stairs areas where you could discuss without shooting I think.
Opening Hours: Fri 22:00-05:00, Sat 22:00-07:00, Sun 22:00-05:00 Capacity 1700, you could feel like a sardine in some dancing area... even more with smoke producer system... hard to seat except in the stairs where you feel like on an industrial beach... Nearest Transport: Farringdon Tube. Price: Prebook your ticket (GBP 12 or 15 at door) is a must do to avoid long queue. Take you ear plug to save your audition the next day ;-) According to my credit card statement beer (Stella) is around GBP 4... explaining why many people were carring plastic bottles and refueling endless in the loo.

Babalou: Go South... London

Nightlife Spot: Babalou
I have discovered the Babalou on a Saturday (Night Fever) for a House music session.
Situated in the heart of Brixton, Babalou set in a Crypt of a converted church. Funny as I went the previous day in a Pub Church, see my O'Neills tip above... So in that crypt architecture, you will find North African style lamps, sturdy wooden tables and sumptuous velvet booths. You could also have dinner to the restaurant before partying.
Babalou Bar has a capacity of 500 with a 5am licence - South Londons premier and newest club/restaurant and bar all in one.

Nightlife Spot: Lost Society
What a pleasant place to eat, to have a drink or to dance...
Enjoy your fine meal in an intimate athmosphere before heading in the garden to taste the special cocktail of the day... or the night in fact. Have a chat with your friends and relax.
You want more "action"? Go upstairs and you will discover a cosy bar and dance floor under the roof with wooden beam... mind your head if your are tall and do not try a cheetah, tarzan or Jane swing... The bouncer will be happy to get your feet back on earth ;-)
The music was great, les petites anglaises too 8-) All the area was non-smoking so everything was clear and breathtaking...
