I never had a specific picture in my head when I thought of Helsinki but there are certainly some very prominent sights to be seen. And don´t forget to visit some of the 250 islands along the coast, just in front of the capital.
Helsinki (Helsingfors in Swedish), also called the Daughter of the Baltic, was stated to be the capital of Finland in the year 1550. You can still see various international influences in the architecture, also due to the multiple wars that Finland had been in or was used for (by eg Sweden and Russia).
