<B>Venice is a tourist's dream city. It is absolutely beautiful, everywhere you look is a postcard photo. The city is made for walking around...there are no cars with crazy Italian drivers to worry about. It is very quiet and relaxing. To be honest, when I was walking around Venice, I felt as if I were on movie set. Everything so was so quiet and so perfect...it was very strange. One night in Venice while searching for a pub I walked around about 30 minutes without seeing one other person and it was eerily quiet! I don't believe Venice would exist if it wasn't for tourists. It's sole major industry (not disrepecting fishing and glassblowing) is tourism. I saw many more foreigners in Venice than Italians! It was odd. The city is very beautiful, but it's is quite touristy and I didn't truly feel the Italian culture there. I think 1 or 2 days is perfect for seeing Venice. The only "must-see" attraction for me was Piazza di San Marco (St. Mark's Square), which was stunning. The rest of my 2 day stay in Venice I simply wandered around the city and had a great time... </B> |
