The twin churches of Gran

I had the privilege to spend some beautiful October days at this historical ground.

The so-called sister churches of Gran are the only existing example in Norway today of two medieval churches being raised close to each other, but this was probably not uncommon in Medieval times. There are many stories and legends why there are two churches - the most popular tells about two sisters that couldn't agree - and each of them built their own church.
Probably the answer is more practical - that the churches served each their purpose.
