I have not been in China since 1999. When I came back in 2005 I first visited Chongqing and Beijing. This Mega-Cities and also the small cities along the Yangzi-River gave me the impression, that everywhere highrise buildings are growing. Almost nothing seemed to be left over from old cities and villages.
But then I visited Jimingyi! I had read about this village in internet and got interested in seeing a small town with a complete city wall. But when I arrived in Jimingyi on this grey and rainy day in September I was completely surprised.
Jimingyi looks like a small town, which has not changed since the last 100 years! |
| | Location Jumingyi is about 130 or 150 km from Beijing. There is a new highway, which passes the small town about 5 km away. It can easily be reached by car from Beijing. The next bigger city is Xuanhua. Xuanhua is not very interesting. But anyway you can get a first impression on my Xuanhua-Page. |
