For some years I heard alot about this old town in china, I heard about its old houses and a complete city wall. But I never managed to visit until in 2009 I decided that I have finally to this city myself.

It was more than I expected. The old streets with no cars, the old courtyard houses turned into small museums , guesthouses an dshops. Pingyao has a very touristy atmosphere, but it is easy to stroll around the less frequented streets and find yourself in the China of Ming- and Qing-Dynastie.

It is a place far away from all the modern highrise buildings and the fast tempo of the big cities.

In Pingyao there are lots of tourists from all over the world: Chinese tourists, backpackers and some group tourists. But there also the people who life and work here. They are very friendly and like to show you around in their old authentic courtyard houses.
