  • Gerasa, now know as Jerash, is a fine expample of a Roman Colonial City. It has been excavated during the last 70 years. Gerasa is famous for its round forum and the beautiful collonaded streets, where today again the columns stand tto their full height.

The Jerash festival, held in July every year, transforms the ancient city into one of the world's liveliest and most spectacular culture events. The festival features folklore dances by local and international groups, ballet, concerts, plays, opera, popular singers and sales of traditional handicrafts, all in the brilliantly floodlit dramatic surroundings of the Jerash ruins.

  • Mt. Nebo is the place, where Moses was shown the Promised Land. Already in very early times, there was a Byzantine Church build on this place. The church has been forgotten for some centuries. Now it has been excavated and a shelter is build on top of it. It is in use as a church again. Inside you can see beautiful mosaics.

When I was in this church I had the strong feeling, that this has been a holy place since many, many thousand years. I felt connected with all the people, that had been praying here. Mt. Nebo is certainly a very mystic place.

  • Twothousand years ago Petra has been a wealthy city at the incence road from Arabia to Greece. Hidden in the red rocks it was never possible to conquer this town. Petra was left, when there was not enough water anymore, and then it was completely forgotten until recent times, when adventourers and explorers discovered Petra again. Only the beduins always knew about this ancient city.

  • Amman, the lively capital of Jordan, has now about 1,5 Mio. inhabitants. Amman is also a very old city, excavations of Roman and even older remains show it.

Amman is a busy commercial and administrative center with many fine hotels, restaurants, art galleries and museums. Shopping amenities vary from old markets and souqs full of gold and spices to modern boutiques offering local handicrafts and imported fashions.
