Two Days in a Special Place

Oberhof is located in an almost forgotten area of Germany, far away from big cities and sightseeing spots. Only in the last 100 years it developed into an attractive town. First it was only known for its good fresh air and the forests around, then it became fomous as an ideal place for skiing and other wintersports.

Oberhof is in the middle of the wide forests of Thueringer Wald. The famous hiking path "Rennsteig" is very near.

I'm no skier, but through this enjoyable page you've convinced me that this would be a great place to do some hiking in the warmer months.

I've heard about Oberhof as a center of winter sports. The area of the Rennsteig is good for skiers indeed. Thanks Ulrike for sharing!

hi´ulrike, i was in thuringen myself a couple of months ago and thought it was a very nice part of germany even if a little forgotten by other tourists.

When I visited Tabarz this year I saw signposts for the Rennsteid nearby. I imagine it would be lovely just now when all the leaves are in different colours.
