Mosques, Medreses, Bazaars!

After seeing the VT-pages on Bukhara, specially the ones of VT-members TheWanderingCamel and Trekki, I am a bit shy about building my own tipps. I did a lot of research on all the beautiful buildings, but I think instead of rehashing the history already written down by others I 'll try to give a more personal view on things and I hope to find and tell some stories, that are interesting.

I have not seen everything in Bukhara. But I am sure I'll come back to this most wonderful city in Centralasia!

I liked Bukhara...

Old Town

...most of all cities I have seen during my trip to Centralasia in June 2007.

Bukhara:
- beautiful old town
- wonderful mosques
- friendly people
- an oriental city full of stories
- a city of the ancient Silkroad which shows much of the original charme

Ulrike, fabulous page with outstanding photos of Bukhara. Uzbekistan is still on my lmust visit list. I would love to enter the country by train from Moscow to Tashkent. Happy new year 2011.

Visiting Bukhara again with you has been lovely, Ulrike, and I quite agree with your comment about the fitness of the old trading city buildings being used for selling things. The old traders would have approved I'm sure. leyle
