After all my travels in Asia I thought that I am finally ready to visit India. I startet my travelling in India with Calcutta. And I cannot recommend this! Calcutta is a polluted, crowded city with enormous poverty to see everywhere. . Of cource there are also very nice places in this city. But I could only cope with it, because I met Tony there. Tony made me see the beauty and the fun. When I thought, that I cannot stand this city anymore, he made a joke, and everything was nice again.
Please remember: I visited Calcutta in 1992, many years ago. As some people told me, Calcutta has changed a lot since then. But I can only write about my own impressions and my experiences in 1992. So I won't update this page. |

yumyum Sun Oct 19, 2008 08:11 UTC I was in Calcutta in 1985 and I also had very mixed feelings about it. Definitely not a good starting point for India back then. So many families living on the street but the botanical garden and temples were great. | JohnniOmani Sun Feb 17, 2008 13:56 UTC I am surprised to hear you say this about Calcutta, I thought the city was fantastic and found other cities in India much worse, must be the media I guess. | Kumarjit Sat Aug 20, 2005 13:21 UTC I seriously think that you need to edit and update your Calcutta page. Calcutta is no longer the place that you have seen 12 years back. I was shocked to read your Calcutta page! I think you should visit Calcutta now to see the changes. | Hewer Mon Aug 30, 2004 06:17 UTC Great reading about Calcutta on your pages. Nice job! |
