Favorite Thing: In the summer, catch a Drillers game. Forget about those overpaid, middle-aged brats from Dallas - the Drillers are a REAL football team. And I don't even particularly care for football.
In the winter: The Fantasy of Lights, front lawn of Midwestern State University. It's hard to describe - basically it's dozens of animated light displays, from Cinderella to The Wizard of Oz, Santa playing piano, Santa soaking his feet... It's kinda gaudy and there really isn't a theme or anything but who cares. It's CHRISTMAS - isn't everything flashy and pointless? The whole affair can be experienced 2 ways: in a car (enter at Taft & Hampstead) or on foot. It usually begins just after Thanksgiving and is all packed away by New Years.
Fondest Memory: Snow. It 'snows' maybe once a year - by 'snow' I mean vague white stuff that is kinda fluffy & sorta floats around for a couple of minutes. In Wichita Falls, the snow actually makes it to the ground maybe every other year. This means that for 10 or 15 minutes the grass is white around the edges. Every 5 or 6 years, it snows enough that you can make a respectable snowman provided the neighbors don't mind your using their snow also. My fondest memory is the ONE winter day that my sister and I actually made a snowman without having to smuggle snow in buckets from next door. Heaven.
