Rip Van Winkle

Sleepy Hollow even the name make you drossy it is a village located near our this VTers new home in the Hudson Valley. It is next to the Tappan Zee (another wonderful sounding Dutch name) and the Tappan Zee Bridge on the Hudson River and it is about ½ hour north of NYC.

Sleepy Hollow is the Headless Horseman and the The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle fell asleep near by in the wonderful stories by Washington Irving with just a little help from Diedrich Knickerbocker.


And although Rip Van Winkle fell asleep for a long long time near Sleepy Hollow the Rockefellers were wide awake and created some beautiful thing in sleepy hollow. one of this Vters favorite places is the Union Church with the stain glass windows by Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse.

The Rockefeller estate Kykuit with its beautiful modern sculptures ceramics, fine furnishings and lushes landscaped terraces well is a home fit for a Rockefeller and Philipsburg Manor which is a , Sleepy Hollow a living history museum from the 16teen and 17teen hundreds

    I remember reading those Washington Irving stories many years ago.

    Patrick and I loved Sleepy Hollow. I went to the church too, but was rushed due to having a 4 year old in tow.

    Haha, the church is as gorgeous as the window :-) OH and the food looks SO scrumptous!!
