    • So as the story goes the Queen was at the shrine of the breadfruit goddess, Sinlaku in 1852 when she decided to flee to Yap. The Kosreans than heard a voice from the breadfruit goddess light coming over the sea. The next day missioners showed up on a ship mamed the Morning Star. Well with that omen the Kosraeans took to Christianity big time and they are a very religious people still to this day – very. The whole Island shuts down on Sunday and everyone is in church.

    The place is very basic and well poor frankly, but in a calm gentle sort of way, people live in huts and live off the sea and farming by in large only about 20% of the population has a formal Job. BUT there is no jail no crime nobody bothers you.

    The Kosraeans are quite calm people but at the same time helpful friendly and engaging they always have a smile -- a warm sincere smile really.
