"The Deep South of Chile" Chile by Ekahau

Punta Areas Chile: Punta Areas is a place in a time warp, it saw its best days before the Panama Canal opened. The grand building were all built before 1918. The good old days are right now. Go, but go now. I'm grateful I arrived in time to see these places before...before they become as crowded as the Khumbu. One thing chilled me more than the winds that can come up and forced the street to close and wrap the car
door around the fender: the world is poised to discover this remote stark and beautiful part of the world.

The names themselves are so romantic, Patagonia, Terria del Feguigo, Straight of Magellan, Cape Horn I was so thrilled to have a chance to stand next to the graveyard of members of HMS Beagle crew in strake isolation looking South to Antarctic. I now know where Darwin's idea of survival of the fittest comes from.
Tierra del Fuego is a place of extremes: Many have compared this island to the Alaskan panhandle. It shares the same relative latitude: 55°. Some of the same industries: oil, fishing, and the same frontier spirit of independence and diligence. Two oceans surround Tierra del Fuego on three sides the straight of Magellan on the fourth. The winds blow this
way from the Pacific, and that way from the Atlantic, constantly bringing clouds and rain storms.

Torres del Paine national Park has the most beautiful rock formation I have ever seen (and I have seen Yosemite). The Torres del Paine are spectacular granite pillars that soar almost vertically for more than 6560ft above the Patagonian steppe. Cascading waterfalls, sprawling glaciers, dense forests, and the chance to see Patagonian guanaco and Rheas make it a truly awesome experience. The animal stars of the park
are the Guanacos and the Rheas. Rheas, are an ostrich-like bird and guanacos are wild South American cameloids, related to the domesticated llama and alpaca.
