Salta the Capital of the Province is the starting point of the best train ride left in South America know as the Train to the Clouds - Tren a las nubes and even more important a great city to hang out in for a few weeks.
From Salta to San Antonio de los Cobres. at 13000 ft (4000 m), is an engineering marvel.
The Train to the Clouds, one of the biggest tourist attractions of the province of Salta in the northern Argentina, crosses 33 bridges, 13 viaducts, 21 tunnels, 2 routes and two zigzags and has a history of its own, long and zigzagging as its layout. The line was started in 1889 and finised in 1948. One of the engineers on the project was Joseph Bróz Tito who would go on to have his first name changed to Marshal as in the leader of Yugoslavia - Marshal Tito.
- Pros:Great city to hang out
- In a nutshell:One amazing train ride

That bridge looks awesome, yet frightening!!! I love the pictures of those boy scouts!! I hope all is well, Paul! Happy Easter!
I do not know if now they are repairing the train ( line ) and it is closed but I will try to go there Good comments
A very interesting page Paul ! Wow, that old train trestle is really something!! I had not heard of this railroad, but recently took a drive along the TransAndean rail route further south in Mendoza Province!
