On September 2001 I spent 3 days in Ireland for one of my business trips. We landed in Dublin airport, then we had to drive some 150km along the N7 till Nenagh, our destination, in the Tipperary Co.
Driving along the N7 was an experience... supposed to be one of the main roads in Ireland, the N7 actually goes through all the little towns, requiring you to stop at many traffic lights. The landscape was typically Irish, with uninterrupted green fields and many horses.
We had a car stereo, but the only station we were able to find kept playing Irish folk music for two hours! the first 10 minutes were great, but after that we were almost dying. But luckily we managed to arrive.
Nenagh is a quiet little town. No much night life there - the only place we found open after 10pm was a downtown pub where you could choose to watch England-Albany on the TV, or to play darts.
But at least in Nenagh we were staying at the Abbey Court Hotel - which is really superb. It was built in the style of the nearby Franciscan abbey: stones on the external side and wood all inside. It has a great gym, a nice swimming pool and a fantastic Jacuzzi. Also, there is a nice pub serving good food and original Guinnes. In case you want to know more, this is the link:

One night we went for dinner at the "Whiskey Stall", on the lake nearby. It was really good, I went for the catch of the day which resulted to be a tasty trout.
Unfortunately I couldn't stay in Ireland for the weekend , to visit Dublin - so this stays on the list of my future trips. I'll let you know...
