Getting TO/AROUND: If you're in a hurry like most of us are, go by airplane. I flew Air New Zealand. That is a wonderful airline that, when I flew it 10 years ago, treated folks in economy class like other airlines treat first class passengers. I hear tell that Qantas has a good reputation too.

That depends on how far out from Sydney you want to go. In town, taxis are the best way to go. Some hotels, like mine, had courtesy vans that would take folks around town either free or for a modest tip for the driver (which is still cheaper than taxicab fare). If you want to travel far and wide, I would recommend hiring a car.

Getting TO/AROUND: We went to the Tauronga Zoological Park but we first had to cross the harbour at Circular Quay. We had to wait some 15 minutes, therefore I bought 20 more postcards. My Grandma Atkins who was 74 years old at the time strayed away from us. When we got on the boat, we very nearly left her at Circular Quay. No doubt Daddy got mad because on these trips, regardless of age, you have to stay alert all the time. According to Daddy, he wasn't going to ever take her as far as Red Bank (a small community in southern Virginia between Virgilina and South Boston).

Getting TO/AROUND: We were lucky. Our hotel had a free courtesy van that would take us anywhere in the city we wanted to go. a lot of times, we had to take a taxi back, but it saved us half the cab fare.

Getting TO/AROUND: Many cities are defined by their bridges: New York by the Brooklyn Bridge, San Francisco by the Golden Gate, and Sydney by the Harbour Bridge. For its time (the early 1930s), the Sydney Harbour Bridge was an engineering marvel. Before it was built, the only link between downtown and the residential area was by ferry or a very circuitous roadway. The Harbour Bridge is not only a more convenient way to get from point A to point B, but, together with the Opera House, an integral part of the skyline.

Wow! You made it to OZ!!! That would be another dream of mine:)) but from Italy the flight lasts 24 hours so I guess that it'd be easier to get to the US first..
