Credit Lyonnais building
I have been to Lyon twice:

August, 1989: I was visiting my friend Luc after my studies in Nice had finished. At that time, his daddy was a principal at a middle school in suburban Venissieux. In France, they give their school administrators a free place to live on the school campus. So, for a few days, we were there touring the city. I didn't like the big and cavernous cathedral, not to single out the one in Lyon, I don't like ANY big and cavernous cathedral. I prefer a small country church. While we were there, Mr. Marcellin prepared a treat I had never had before...a truffle omelet. For those who don't know, truffles are fungi, similar to mushrooms, that are located just below the ground and they train pigs and dogs to locate and dig these things out of the ground.

One of the city's landmarks is the Credit Lyonnais building which looks a lot like a high-rise grain silo.
December, 2000: Luc and Isabelle had just gotten married the previous June. I was invited to the wedding, but it made more sense to me to visit them after all the dust settled. When I pointed out the reasons, my traveling all that way only to see them a few minutes in the reception queue. Even if I stayed a few days before the wedding as he suggested, I would be there during the most hectic part. So, we settled on 5-14 December 2000. As you will see in the journal, I had an educational trip back to Lyon. My favourite part of it was visiting Luc's parents in their new home of Alpe de Grand Serre.

I really loved the shopping tips. When you write in diary-fashion, the descriptions are fantastic, and, as usual, I laugh all the way through them. I swear that you have more VT friends that you have personally visited!!
