Mt. San Jacinto

by AdriannaTex - last update: Aug 30, 2002

Though I don't really dig Palm Springs, I do enjoy hiking and camping. San Jacinto Mountain is a great place to do both. I believe it boasts the second highest peak in Southern California, at 10,800' (and I think it's the steepest in all of North America). This picture is taken on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway just as we are ascending. The tram will take you 8,516' above sea level. The distance traveled on the tram is approximately 12,800' with vertical ascent of 5,873'.
