Small pike, (released) - Ottawa

Small pike, (released)

Great fishing

There is also some awesome fishing going on in and around Ottawa. There are many smaller and larger rivers, bays and lakes to provide an excellent opportunity to catch Pike, bass, catfish, carp and even Muskey.
Fishing licenses are also available for non canadian residents for a low price. (Below $20) per season. Please do not fish without a valid seasonal license!

Equipment: Bring fishing rods and remember to respect the rules and regulations about fishing in Canada. When sertain spieces spawn, you can NOT fish them. There are periods when you can or can not. Obtain a panflet at one of the license issuing places to find out which fish is open or closed at the time you're fishing. (See website below for info) Catching fish and leaving it on shore to die is illegal and you will be prosecuted for it if found. Remember you can not use Bass as a bait for Pike or Muskie. Catfish and and carp are always open. As long as you have a license, you can fish them all year around. Tons of fun and can be a great family adventure. Kids under 18 need no license.

Address: All around the Ottawa area.

Directions: Ottawa River, Rideau River, Rideau Canal, Dows lake, Moonies bay, St laurence river.

More Hockey Hockey Review

If you like hockey so much that you have to see a live game every week, than I highly recommend the Ottawa 67,s Junior ice hockey team. Their home is the Civic Center in Ottawa Downtown. The tickets are only $12- for adults and only $9- for the kids.
The 67,s are a very strong team in Canadian junior level. In fact they are in the top four teams in Canada. Chances are the team will win when you are in the Civic center to see them. The Civic center is the old home for the Ottawa Senators. Since the Corel Centre was built, the Senators train and play there. this way the 67,s have the Civic Center's ice for them selves. Guaranteed action on the ice. The junior teams are even more enthusiastic than the NHL guys. There is never a boring game there.

Equipment: If you go to the Civic Center to see the 67,s playing, you can bring some snacs and drinks with you. They advise you not to, however nobody checks your bags. Plus some people don't like junk food. We usually bring pretzels and water. There are three 20 minute periods and maybe an overtime.
The brakes are 15 minutes in between the periods. Parking is only $4- / car or mini van.

Corel Centre - Ottawa

Corel Centre

Ottawa Hockey town Hockey Review

First of all, you have to know that Canada is the ice hockey capital of the World! While there are jut a little over thirty million people live in Canada, most of them play or watch ice hockey on a regular basis. Children as young as five years old play and train on the ice to become an NHL hockey players. Ottawa's biggest stadium for ice hockey is the $170,000,000 Corel center or some calls it Palladium. It is located west of ottawa in Kanata. Just a 10 minute drive from the City. Corel center is home for the Ottawa Senators NHL team.

To get there: If you are coming from the west, take either Highway 7 (Carleton Place, Smiths Falls, Perth) or Highway 17 (Almonte, Pakenham, Arnprior, Renfrew) to Highway 417 (the Queensway). Follow the Queensway east to the Palladium Drive exit.
You can't miss it. The Corel Center is visible from miles away. Parking is about $15-. Outside foods and drinks are not permitted inside so bring money with you just incase you get hungry.

Equipment: If you want to play hockey or just skate around, you have to bring your skates.
You can skate around on the Rideau Canal. This is over six kilometers long. There are also many local arenas and rings available for the public.

Address: Kanata

Directions: Take the highway 417 to West and exit at Terry Fox or Paladium drive.
