Name of Shop: Place D'Orleans
Many Canadians shop in so called department stores. These stores carry many items. From food to clothing and garden tools, etc. There are also big shopping centers in and around Ottawa. Those are the best places in the winter time since you can access all shops and stores under one roof. There are also malls in Ottawa. There is a difference between a mall and a shopping center. In a mall you'd have to come out of one store, get in your car and drive or perhaps walk up to the next shop outside. The biggest shopping center in Ottawa is Place D'orleans. The busiest is the Rideau center in downtown. . .
What To Buy: You can also find regular stores on the streets. Mainly in downtown, like on Elgin Street or Bank street. In these stores you can purchase gifts, food, instruments, clothing goods and electronics. You can also visit China Town on Somerset St to buy authentic Chinese food, fruits, vegetables and other items. . .
What To Pay: You can spend all your money in Ottawa. Especially in a shopping center. . .

Name of Shop: Tommy Hilfiger
This is one of our favorite stores to buy fashionable clothes that are decent quality and look good as well. Tommy Hilfiger is an internationally recognized brand. Very popular in North America and known around the World just like Gap, Jacob's, Lewis, Nike, Adidas and other known brands.
What To Buy: My favorite pieces are jeans and shirts, but Tommy also manufactures colognes, hats, jackets, socks, skirts, T-shirts and other different types of clothes.
What To Pay: Tommy is a little bit more expensive than your regular department sores like Wal Mart but the quality is somewhat better than those.

Aldo shoe stores: Quality + Price = Aldo

Name of Shop: Aldo shoe stores
The easiest way to decide on how to get some quality shoes in Canada is to visit an Aldo shoe store. This shoe store chain exists in the United Kingdom, Canada and in the USA. Aldo shoes are relatively high quality and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Aldo for those who are looking for the latest fashion in footwear. When looking for quality shoes, stay away from Zellers, Wall Mart and other large department sores! Aldo is always a good choice when can't make up your mind.
What To Buy: Business, Casual, Elegant and fashionable shoes, boots, sandals and other stylish footwear. Aldo is not the place to purchase sporty shoes, like running joggers or ski boots, etc.
What To Pay: A bit more expensive than average but the quality is better too. Stay away from synthetic materials and anything that's made in China. I speak from experience. You think you save by getting cheaper shoes but you do not.

Shihar Fri Mar 13, 2009 14:10 UTC Great Ottawa tips! I'm planning a trip in May.. What's the weather like then? | 1courage Wed Jan 23, 2008 19:55 UTC You live in a wonderful and really clean city! Your Parliament is even bigger than ours (i miss the photos about the internals-must be nice!). Thank you for this nice page! | JessH Sun Nov 18, 2007 05:37 UTC Hi John. Looks like a lovely city you live in! Here in Dubai we also have an Amphi-bus, and German people seem to be just as proud of their front gardens as Ottawa-residents! My ratings are definitely with you. Greetings from the desert / Jess :-) | kenHuocj Tue Mar 28, 2006 02:21 UTC more info than the local guide books ;-))) |
