This is the most luxurious hotel in Ottawa, downtown. It is located at the corner of Wellington street and Rideau street. besides the parliament buildings. Fairmont Chateau Laurier was originally opened by its namesake, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, on June 12, 1912 and has changed Ottawa forever. You can spot this beautiful building from a distance because it really looks like a castle. This place is not cheap and many politicians, diplomats and important business people stay in the Chateau Laurier.
Unique Qualities: This beautiful hotel has 429 guest rooms, including 31 luxury suites. The Fairmont Gold room is very special in a unique way. it is basically a small hotel inside a hotel. I know it sound weird but that's how it is. Guest staying at this section enjoy extra treatment. Living really like a king.

The Ottawa Marriott Hotel is one of the most famous accommodations in Ottawa downtown district. It offers 480 beautiful and newly renovated rooms to it's guests. Open 24 hours with bilingual service reception and underground parking. The Marriott belongs to the high class hotels group because it's so luxurious in every which way. At the top of the hotel there is a restaurant at the top of the building that's slowly turning around while people dining inside, letting you see the city 360 degrees. This is very unique compared to other hotels in Ottawa. This hotel has been awarded a four diamond rating by the AAA. Additional facilities include the "Kent Club" fitness centre and an indoor pool with an extensive; children's play area (KIDS ZONE), and 24,000 square feet of first class meeting and convention space for large meetings and conferences. Conveniently Located on Elgin Street, (ceremonial route to the Cenotaph) and Houses of Parliament in the middle of downtown Ottawa. This Hotel overlooks the famous Confederation Park, home to many festivals and the Winterlude. Walk through the Park and reach the Rideau Canal. An all-around center of activity and waterway which becomes the longest skating rink in the world during the winter season. The eleven storey building, with its Normandy copper roof, located opposite the National Arts Centre, home of the performing arts in Ottawa is a clean cut modern adaptation of the French Chateau style. This place is so big it did not fit on my photo. Please enlarge image to view details. I can also send you the high resolution, full size, original photo. Just request it in email. Lord Elgin offers a nice blend of historic charm and state of the art, modern day conveniences and services. You can't miss this place. Ask anyone on the street, They'll tell you where the Lord Elgin is. One of the oldest hotels in Ottawa with the most beautiful view of the Canal and Confederation Park. Top to bottom heritage construction, in the last phase of yet another impressive expansion and renovation program in room movies, lobby bar with fireplace, meeting facilities with on-site meeting services manager, business services available, smoking floors available. State of the art and expanded fitness room, Indoor lap pool, Whirlpool and saunas now open for the guests and visitors.
Unique Qualities: Brand new restaurant front view outdoor patio. I don't recommend the patio on week days due to heavy traffic on Elgin St and there is a lot of smoke and noise around. Room service, Safety deposit boxes, Gift shop for souvenirs, On site cash machine, Airport and casino shuttle convenient, Valet underground parking and Valet dry cleaning services.

Your Parliament is even bigger than ours (i miss the photos about the internals-must be nice!). Thank you for this nice page! | JessH Sun Nov 18, 2007 05:37 UTC Hi John. Looks like a lovely city you live in! Here in Dubai we also have an Amphi-bus, and German people seem to be just as proud of their front gardens as Ottawa-residents! My ratings are definitely with you. Greetings from the desert / Jess :-) | kenHuocj Tue Mar 28, 2006 02:21 UTC more info than the local guide books ;-))) |
