I've heard that thieves work this line because they know there will be tourists loaded down with baggage. If you can afford a taxi - take one.

We were approached by two separate Asian women wanting us to help them buy some handbags at the Louis Vitton store on the Champs Elysees. I don't understand how the scam was supposed to work but I guess that's the point isn't it. You wouldn't realize you'd been had until it was too late.

it is popular for japanese woman to fly to paris to buy designer clothing a few times a year, sometimes buying 10-15 bags/shoes at once, and thus store owners have a limit per customer.. it's possible that those woman reached their limit? | XenoHumph Mon Nov 17, 2003 19:17 UTC
