God Bless New York & The Pentagon

by jenna24 - last update: Sep 12, 2002

I was not going to build this page, but in light of the way the world is right now , I felt it appropriate. I plan on taking it down in a few weeks, but I found a few nice things that I thought would be comforting to alot of the people who are hurting. Please know everyone in the world who hurts form this horrible disaster is in my heart and prayers regardless of who you are.

Today our nation was forced to become stronger we were forced to stand up and remember why we live in America. We watched horrified as thousands of people were killed when our own commercial airliners were taken over by merciless men. We watched as people desperate to survive threw themselves out of high-rise buildings. We watched as history collapsed and a new future began. And we watched as the WORLD gathered together to mourn and help the victims of this disaster.
And then we saw that we are not weak and we are not hopeless. We saw that we are greater than we ever imagined. We saw that we ARE and always will be , no matter who tries to take us away. We saw our world hole again, and bigger than it has ever been. We found parts of ourselves and each other we never knew we had. We even managed to prove that we can get along in this country regardless of race, color or religion.
And for all of this I commend you my fellow Americans. I have faith that we can overcome and that the aftermath of this horror will create nobility. We will come out of this with open eyes, clear minds and bigger hearts. We will be grateful, proud and joyful to be in our country. We will never again forget the location of the ground from which we stand. We will remember our anthem, pledge our allegiance and salute our flag! Because we are Americans and no one can take that privilege away from us. A privilege which our fore fathers fought to make possible.
I am confident that the victims of this tragedy did not die in vain. They died for a purpose, they died to pull the World and our Nation together. They died to serve as a reminder of our lives and how short they can be. They died to remind us of our freedom and where we live. They died for our country and there are no bigger heroes than the victims of this attack on our freedom. Candles are lit and prayers are made around the world, we will not forget these heroes, we will not forget what they have given up for us.
God bless the world, God bless the victims and families and God bless America!

THIS IS AMERICA

Stand your ground,
and salute your flag,
sight and sound,
of the happy and sad.
This is a time,
of grief and mourn,
but it should also be a time,
of a nation reborn.
United under God,
'tis thee stand,
a prayer and a thought,
for our people and land.
This is America,
the bold and strong,
this is freedom,
we can't go wrong.
God is with us,
and so we are,
on the winning side,
of this spar.
By Tracey Liggett

P.S. I am proud to be here in my country. I love all countries and all nations. I am saddened by what has happened and felt since I cannot do anything from my home , I would show my support and my sorrow here. If you do not like this page , I am sorry , but it is my page and not yours. I am not a mean person, but noone has any right to tell me what to say and what to do. If VT wants to remove this page so be it, but until then please, keep your rude comments to yourself!

I know you said not to rate it so I won't, but I wanted to comment. I'm glad to see you have not taken this down. I think it needs to stay here. After 20 months it still hurts like hell, and we still need to comfort each other as a nation.
