Loch Achray Hotel, near Callender in the Trossach

This beautiful Hotel owned by Lochs and Glens was our home for 5 days on our recent little coach tour. In 50 acres of grounds extending to the loch side with Ben Venue as a backdrop which rises to over 3,000 feet. Nearby, just over the Duke's Pass lies the tourist village of Aberfoyle. Very pretty. Our driver and all the Staff were wonderful and gave us a trip to remember. This particular trip was called Mountains and Mistletoe so we enjoyed food and entertainment for both Christmas Day and New Year's Eve early !! Great fun, with all the staff dressed up to suit the day. As we arrived the piper was there to greet us, so made a nice gesture. The views across the loch was special and the water falls and countryside made it lovely place to be. Walking country too for those enegetic folk.

Arklet Falls on Loch Lomond

Our trip to Loch Lomond was one of the best sights, and the falls were wonderful and particularly heavy falls, due to the amount of rain Scotland had had in the last week before we arrived.Sounded very loud when you stood beside it. We also had lunch by the loch at the Inversnaid Hotel, just and 50 yards from the dramatic falls. We also had a short boat trip which was included in our holiday. All very good value for money. Trip was half board, coach and day trips to surrounding villages and towns and including Edinburgh!

Edinburgh Skating Rink

Edinburgh Skating rink was a surprise sight for us on our day trip.People were really enjoying theirselves. We had a guided trip around the city then had some spare time to explore, but never enough time as we found out. Still that will make us return to see more of the wonderful sights.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Wonderful scenery, friendly people, lots of places to explore
  • Cons:No cons just not enough time there
  • In a nutshell:Wonderful scenery, mountains and lochs everywhere, friendly people and lots and lots to see, so will return one day

What a nice relaxing way to spend Christmas! But I agree with you that on such trips there is always too little time to see all you want to see.
