"Winter Days in St. Petersburg" Saint Petersburg by Gwynethart
Saint Petersburg Travel Guide: 3,411 reviews and 7,105 photos
I work for a student exchange company and I went to Russia, Lithuania, and Poland to interview students for our Work & Travel program. The program allows university students to live and work in the United States for 4 months of the summer, and then travel for the last month. When I wasn't interviewing, I tried to see as much as I could, which meant that I saw St. Petersburg mainly at night, and mostly on one day!
This is a cathedral known as "Our Saviour-on-the-Spilt-Blood." It was actually built on funds raised by people's donations. The reason it was created is that the Emperor Alexander II was mortally wounded on this site by terrorist Ignaty Grinevitsky, who exploded a handmade bomb. The czar had reigned for 26 years, and had liberated the peasants from serfdom. The ceremony of the foundation of the cathedral was held on 14 September 1883.
- Pros:Incredible beauty, delicious and varied restaurants, theater, and history!
- Cons:Watch out for construction at 4:00am!
- In a nutshell:A place to return to for more!!

Saint Petersburg is one of our favorite cities. We were there for a week and feel like we just scratched the surface.
I like the Nicholas I on his horse picture so much that i always want to see it Spb pages.Indeed you too naughty to skip Nicholas I in your pic,but it also seems like complete pic.
Brings back fond memories of my trip there in 1993. Just loved the place and had a whole day in the Hermitage but it was just too less to see the whole place properly!!! Just saw your link to the museum website and it is wonderful!!!
