City of Culture

This city was spared bombing during World War II, so the architecture was saved for us to enjoy today. This city is beautiful - from the walk from the train station to the square, I felt like I was drinking water after living in the desert. I soaked up the beauty, and was amazed by how cosmopolitan and vibrant it seemed.

This is the Grand Square, or "Rynek Glowny," which is 10 acres, and is the largest square in all of Europe.

Wawel Hill

Poland's monarchs took up their residence in the Wawel Royal Castle from the 11th century on. They were crowned and buried in the Wawel Cathedral, and it was since the 19th century that Polish national heroes were also laid to rest.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Beautiful - full of restaurants, theatre, museums, cafes
Cons:Definitely need more than a day to spend here!
In a nutshell:Vibrant city with plenty to do.
