Like many people visiting Munich, we took a day trip to see the castle of Mad King Ludwig II. Because we were moving a little slow the day after going to Oktoberfest, we got a bit of a late start. Luckily it was late in the season, so our tardiness and lack of reservations didn't impact our ability to see the castle.

Nice tips but, as you suggest, it's a shame you didn't get to see the rest of Fuessen.

EXCELLENT point about the Bayern Ticket. Too many tourists waste a railpass day when up to 5 people can go for EUR 30 total... PLUS you can use all Munich public transport for the evening when you get back! Cheers, Mark
