A Great Place to Live

New Years Fireworks at The Space Needle
I have lived in Seattle for 11 years. Although I loved the city immediately, my appreciation for it grows each day - as I become more familial with Seattle, and as I visit other places. Yes, Seattle is expensive. But I guess that's the price we pay for all the water, the proximity to the mountains, and the excellent climate - if you can take the rain.

If you'd like to look at some of the marvelous sunsets we have in Seattle (on the days when the sun shows its face) look at my Seattle Sunsets album on my homepage.

Another wonderful thing about Seattle is its laid-back attitude. Even at the most expensive steakhouse in town, you can wear jeans. People from various backgrounds interact every day, and get along. In Seattle, you will find people riding the bus by choice, which is not a common concept in many US cities. While we do have our share of yuppies who are impressed with their purchasing- power, most of the people in Seattle are down-to-earth and accepting of others rather than being judgmental.

And another thing.... I love those days when I walk out my front door and can smell the salt air!
Snow in Ballard

It Snowed in Seattle - 12/1/05

It didn't stick, and it didn't snow for long, but it was pretty while it lasted.

Most people are surprised to hear that it doesn't snow very often in Seattle. Here's a picture to show that it does..... sometimes.

This picture was taken in Ballard, and the building in the background with the word EAT in green neon is the Hi-Life restaurant. (It used to be a live music venue called the Ballard Firehouse, and before that it was a real firehouse. You can still see the holes for the poles in the ceiling.)

Pros:"Water - Puget Sound, Lake Washington, other lakes. Weather - The temperature is moderate - it doesn't fluctuate wildly within a single day or even between seasons. Culture - open, accepting and non-judgemental"
Cons:"It's cloudy quite often, and it is expensive"
In A Nutshell:"This may be Utopia"

Great recommendation for the Seattle Cellars Ltd wine shop. I passed by this store when I walked through Belltown, and having remembered your tip about this place, I popped in for a look. Ended up leaving the shop with 2 bottles of wine.
