Mirage Resort & Casino: Big Room   Check Rates
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • The room at the Mirage was pretty big, which was nice because 3 girls shared it. It had 2 queen beds, the standard TV/drawer/mini bar contraption, a desk and a chair. The bathroom wasn't so big, and the low-flow toilet hardly ever got the TP down on the first flush : (.

The bathroom didn't have a separate sink & mirror area like at some hotels, but there was a small dressing table with a mirror and a lighted makeup mirror just outside the bathroom. The only downfall may have been the lighting - it was so dim you couldn't tell if you had on too much blush : ) But I guess since anything goes in Vegas, it didn't really matter.

Unique Qualities: The Mirage is known for the White Tigers and the Dolphin exhibit and the Volcano, none of which I saw on this trip.

I did go to the gym and spa. The gym is inside the Spa. $20/day to use the facilities, but it's included for free on the day you purchase a spa service (like a massage). It's not very big, but does have a nice selection of equipment, with individual TV screens on the cardio machines. I had a very nice massage in the spa, and they provide Aveda products in the showers / dressing area.

Wasn't a big fan of the "snacks" at the Mirage. The Coffee shop had some of the most bitter espresso I've ever had, and the ice cream was kind of bland. Didn't eat at any of their full-service restaurants.

The pool is VERY crowded. It opens at 8 and people rush down there with towels, etc. to save chairs. It is pretty cool though - has a couple waterfalls and little waterslides. Oh, and beware, a large bottle of water ordered from the poolside servers is $7.

Luxor Hotel and Casino: Great Pool!   Check Rates
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • The guest rooms in the Luxor are sufficient and nice, but it's the pool area and spa that make the Luxor such a great place to stay.

Unique Qualities: There are several pools at the Luxor, and they serve the best poolside Pina Colada! It's easy to lounge away the day (or afternoon, because you stayed up so late gambling the night before that you slept through lunch) sipping Pina Coladas and soaking up the Vegas sun.

Rio All Suite Hotel And Casino: The Suite is Nice   Check Rates
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • Satisfaction:
  • I stayed at the Rio with a friend in 2004 (or was it 2003?). They call it a suite, but it's really just a large room with a wall separating the sleeping and dressing area. The bathroom was nice, and the dressing area with sinks and mirrors outside the bathroom was perfect for primping!

This was the only time I've stayed off the strip, and it was only a minor inconvenience. They had a regular shuttle to Harrah's, which is a sister property, and it's right across the street from The Palms.

The Rio also has a nice Wine Bar.

Flamingo Las Vegas: Flamingo Hilton   Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:

  • Unique Qualities: When I stayed here several years ag this property was owned by Hilton. With the expansion of Hilton's Vacation Club, however, I think the original part of this hotel is now owned by Harrah's.

It's one of the older hotels, but they have decent rooms and a good location. These penguins are in the center, outdoor section of the hotel.
