Unfortunately, I have received a lot of negative feedback about my website. It appears that if you're not particularly fond of a certain place, God forbid you share that opinion on this website...which is aimed to help other travelers find the low points and high points of anywhere.
So again, I will start off by saying after living four years in Omaha - I have no issue with saying it sucks. It may be a great place to raise a family...I wasn't there to raise one. It may be a nice place to visit friends, but I wasn't there to do that. I was there to be a graduate student and study. In retrospect, it was probably a great place to study. But not the best place for students from more adventurous parts of the US to live. You have to look at Omaha on a scale. I lived there, after being raised in the Northwest. There are no mountains and no oceans in Omaha. There is hot humid summers and cold, windy winters. None of which exist in the Northwest. I thought I clearly explained this reasoning for why I didn't care for Omaha, but obviously some Omaha lovers felt personally attacked and decided rather than just move, make personal attacks at me.
On the contrary, although I do not wish ever to go to Omaha again and am not looking forward to returning for a wedding I have to go, I did list and continue to list several plus sides about Omaha, along with the downsides. If you want a sing song page praising every place there is to visit in the world, then, my friend, you are deluded. If you wish to have a page showing someone's likes and dislikes so you know what you're getting into... then read on. If you're just going to get all huffy and call names...then humor is probably wasted. As for my own personality, I made the best of four years living in a place I didnt' care for. And found even some good things to say about it and some nice places to visit. Those who wish to leave nasty comments, instead of just disagreeing comments, show more of their own personality than they realize.
This page was made for those who, having no roots in the midwest, to get a glimpse of what living in Omaha was like for ME. Please feel free to create your own page about your own experiences in Omaha.
PS: I have just recently been notified that there is now a Red Robin in Omaha, so things are looking up.! |
