I have written a long travelogue from my first visit in 1999 that I have broken up into three (relatively) self-contained portions. They cover Kathmandu, trekking to the Annapurna Sanctuary, and some general reflections. I hope you will have an opportunity to read a little and I welcome any comments or questions you might have. As much as I believe that those writings reflect many of my thoughts, I especially hope that you will look at the pictures in my Photo Gallery. There are not a lot of them but I truly believe that will give you a sense of place. They are the "real" Nepal, people as well as places. And, in some ways, perhaps, an even more accurate portrayal of my time there.
It was one of the most extraordinary trips I have ever taken and I am eager to return. If you have any interest whatsoever in the people, the culture, or the scenery, try dipping into my writing--or just get on a plane!--and let me know what you think.
- Pros:Spectacular scenery, warm and generous people
- Cons:Extraordinary poverty
- In a nutshell:One of the most magical places on earth!
