I went to Spain in November 1998 to escape the evil onslaught of a German winter and of course to see my amigo Michael, who was studying *ahem* in Salamanca which is 2 hours north-west of Madrid.
Salamanca is a university town and really casual and so very very cool.
The main attractions of Salamanca would be the Cathedral and the university which is the one of the oldest in Europe. You may have heard of the frog legend. If you can find the frog on the skull of the University door, it will bring you good luck or something. Inside the building you can admire some fossils. Anyway I'm told the frog is up on the right hand side of the facade. Imagine having a campus like this in the above. Salamanca also boasts an Irish college (and a couple of Irish bars!) |
