Western Caribbean Cruise

Overview

Carnival Sensation in Costa Maya
We took the Carnival Sensation out of Tampa, Florida, on October 4th , 2003, for a five-day Western Caribbean cruise. We had a wonderful trip on the Sensation to Costa Maya and Cozumel.

The Sensation is a great ship: large enough to have plenty of privacy if you wanted it (considering there were 2,100 passengers and 900 crew members on board), but not so large that you didn't get to know people. Most of the wait staff is from Bulgaria, Estonia, Romania, Croatia, and Indonesia. We had all smooth days, all tropical storms were far away. Because Carnival’s main strength is in the activities they present, there was almost always something going on. While most of the activities we preferred centered on music, entertainment and of course, dining, there were many parties and other activities (ping pong tournaments, for one) to keep all travelers busy. Everyone on the ship seemed to be in a great mood, in spite of the fact it was quite crowded, and a most busy time of the year. Carnival presents an adults-only sunning deck, and other easy-going activities without ignoring the high-energy younger set as well. This is their greatest strength. I am sure you will enjoy this cruise, and particularly the ship, which was tastefully decorated, and had ample room with large cabins and wide decks.
Chankanaab Park in Cozumel
If you are looking for a fun vacation at a very reasonable price, Carnival is a great choice. Overall this was a fantastic experience and we appreciated all of the staff, they work long hours and they work hard, but they were always friendly and helpful.

Remember your vacation is anything you make it. We really enjoyed our experience with Carnival and we are already looking forward to booking a 7 day cruise!
