"Manacor, the Pearl Capital" Manacor by Tolik

Manacor is a big industrial town in the Sierra de Levant (eastern Mallorca) well known due to its pearl factory.

Visit to the factory is free and takes 0.5 hour or so. Much more time you will probably spend in their huge store across the street. It makes sense to came here if you want to see how the pearls are produced but I would not recommend to buy the pearls here – in Palma you‘ll find better price.

First thing you notice when you enter the town from Port Torrent is a magnificent old mill. A few minutes later you arrive to the Perlas Majorca. Don’t limit yourself to the pearl factory. Besides the man-made pearls, there is a marvelous place called Olive Art Exposition , where you’ll find tons of amazing articles – all made from the olive wood. There are a few buildings in the Old Town worth a visit – the church of Nostra Senyora Verge dels Dolores, the convent of Sant Vicenc Ferrer and the remains of the King Jaume II Royal Palace. It looks like the local tourist industry expects you to arrive here in the morning – the Tourist Information office and most of the sites are closed after 1PM.
