Hear the waves breaking on the beach If you speak to experienced Thailand-visitors, they will come up with hundred of islands not to be missed. Here's my favorite: Koh Samui in the South of Thailand. When I visited this coconut island for the first time in 1984, it was mainly a backpackers resort. Now they bring in the main stream tourists, but that hasn't changed much: it still is a great place, with millions of coconut trees and no high buildings. Lots of bungalows near the beach, where you can enjoy the stars at night, where you can hear the crickets sing, smell that sweet tropical air and where you can hear the waves breaking on the beach. Makes you feel so quiet and relaxed. And lots of entertainment as well: bars, restaurants, disco's, shops, massage and so on. |
