Incidentally, Bangkok is the "English" name for this city - the Thai name is Krung Thep - or "City of Angels". That's the short form of the name - I found a great page describing the full name and what it means at www.into-asia.com
Some of the main attractions for the visitor in the "City of Angels" include Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), the magnificent Grand Palace and nearby Wat Pho and Wat Arun (The 'Temple of Dawn') across the Chao Phraya river. |
