Friendly people of South Dakota

I find that they have a childlike innocence and an openness which reminds you of other times and other countries. I have enjoyed their welcome, their respect and their hospitality on this visit. The night was cold with its frigid
-6F degrees temperature but the day was a meditarranean 60F warm...

Rural South Dakota

In the windswept southern corner of the State of South Dakota lie the town of Wagner, a town in the reservation of the Yankton SIoux Indians. There is a Casino, A dam nearby and the Missouri River is not far off. Very little of interest to the tourist but culturally an experience to talk to the white people who live here, whose mindset has not changed in the hundred years they have lived here. sullen and narrow minded but generous and welcoming: a strange combination inddeed.
The day I arrived there 12 inches of snow fell and the temperature was minus 22 degrees!
