A most cosmopolitan city of the South

Oh! Local Canarese? where are you?

the exotic and the nostalgic
Despite the exhortations of many visitors to the effect that very little is to be had in Bangalore, this charming city, grows on you, especially the central area bounded by MG Road, The Gardens, Church Street and the Commercial Road..A good place to walk and a fair bit to be nostalgic about
any time of the day or night there are traffic jam

A city with very little Infrastructure

On my recent one day stopover in Bangalore, I realized how difficult it is to get aroundt his city. Autorikshaws would take you anywhere but the traffic jams are so horrendous, and being exposed to the smoke and certainly the Bangaloreans are not eco conscious with so much gasoline being burned by stalled vehicles and more and more cars are on the road.. The news that a new cheap car would hit the market means that Bangalore would become UNVISITABLE. I have also decided not to fly into or out of Bangalore when the new airport opens since it would increase the travel time to the city to three hours or more depending upon the expected increases in the traffic.. It would be better to fly into Madras and take the train or fly into Cochin and by pass Bangalore altogether.. One the Premier Bookstore closes, there is no reason for me to come to Bangalore..
a recent sampling of puchase at Premier

Premiere Book Store

I would unashamedly confess my respect for Mr Shanbaugh the owne of this bookstore and he has introduced me to so many Indian writers whom I would have never heard of and also subject matter which are not in the usual Indian Press.
