    • Miscellaneous: You can exchange your american $ easily at the Cambios or the hotels. However, the hotel would not exchange my traveler's cheques. My understanding is that traveler's cheques are less and less accepted there. When I was there the exchange rate was 1USD=13$Uy. The travel guide I used include: 'Lonely Planet, Buenos Aires', and 'Lonely Planet, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.' I found them useful generally but in terms of 'night life' in Montevideo the Lonely Planets were out of date. Montevideo had a lot more night life to offer than discussed in the tour books. I definitely would go back there just to hang out in clubs and dance til dawn.
