La Holandesa & Escher in the Palace :o) Located in the most beautiful part of The Hague the Lange Voorhout Palace is a small but very grand palace dating from the 18th century. Queen Emma lived there until 1891, and after that Queen Wilhelmina, Queen Juliana and Queen Beatrix held their official receptions at the palace.
It is now a permanent museum and tourist attraction dedicated to the work of world-famous Dutch graphic artist Maurits Cornelis Escher.
Where can you see water flowing uphill? Where do birds transmogrify into fish and drawings of reptiles crawl right off the page, over the objects on the artist's desk and back onto the paper again? Where does the shadow of a dog turn into a dog in its own right? All these wonders can be witnessed at Escher in at the palace (Het Paleis). Truly great to see all these drawings & virtual tour about Escher's work!! :o) |
| | with Lonny!!! MASTERCHEF in indonesian cuisine. On the Pasar Malam i met Lonny again!!!!! :o)
I met Chef Lonny Gerungan about 8 years ago too while he was giving cooking demonstrations.
Now the guy is famous!!! and not only for the making of delicious indonesian food BUT ALSO HE IS ON DUTCH TV WITH A PROGRAM : DE REISTAFEL.
HE TRAVELS FROM AND TO INDONESIA (AND ALSO THAILAND) preparing difficult and easy recipes from several Asian cuisines for his TV SHOW: DE REISTAFEL.
Today he signed his new book for me !! o) He also wrote lots of cookingbooks. Chef Lonny Gerungan's family hailed from Bali where they naturally embraced the flavours and cooking styles of Indonesia. Thankfully the tradition thrives in his Balinese restaurant where the walls are hung with silks and waiters wear sarongs.
Indonesian food, thanks to Dutch colonial links, is almost considered to be part of the national cuisine. Rijsttafel is a delicious and colourful array of 20 spicy treats, including sateh's, which are served with rice and - most often - lots of Dutch beer. |
| | Modern & Old ..All in one city The Hague is a beautiful city behind the dunes & sea. It’s a city that is full of history and royalty.
Between the modern buildings we find at the Plein the statue of Willem van Oranje-Nassau (William of Orange-Nassau). |
