Tourist Time or Is It?

by thecatsmeow - last update: Jun 28, 2006

Daytime at the beach
Well I am going to say there are definately three sides to Virginia Beach. There is of course the tourist side of which I spent most of my time enjoying. Then there is the historical side which I also sampled a bit of. Lastly there is the regular everyday life side. Yes I mean the locals outlook. While I came to Virginia Beach and enjoyed the beach and the sites my purpose for the visit was my best friends wedding. An event I would not have missed! This of course forced me to check out the neighborhoods and do one of my favorite things which is check out the real estate market. Ouch! Won't be buying a home here anytime soon. :)
The area is part of todays Hampton Roads. An area that includes not only Virginia Beach but Norfolk, Newport News, Williamsburg and many more cities and towns. The name Hampton Roads is from the days when oceans were highways and sea captains called Southeast Virginia's waterways "Roads". When you arrive the first thing you will notice is just how much water there is in the area and I do not just mean the ocean! So while Virginia Beach is a great vacation destination put on your adventure shoes and do some exploring. There is a whole lot more here then just the beach. (OK the beach was pretty awesome!)

Pros:"Very beautiful and historical area"
Cons:"To many tourist rip offs down by the beach"
In A Nutshell:"This can be a great vacation destination if you do your homework!"

Work? Oh, the thing I do when I'm not on VT heeeheeee;o) Hi Joyce, how's things with you? We have some northwest weather here: rainy and a bit cool.

Aaah the smell of the ocean air, I know it well. That can work up an appetite too bad you encountered 2 crummy restaurants while you were there. Great tips Joyce! Kat
