View of Astoria from Coxcomb Hill
Astoria is a wonderful mix of history, charm, art, culinary delights, and much more.
Astoria is the former " Salmon Capital of the World" so they say in one of the many brochures you can pick up around town.
Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery spent the winter here.
After 4,100 miles they had finally reached the Pacific Ocean.
The town is beautifuuly nestled between the Columbia River and Youngs Bay.
Astoria is also well known for the many movies filmed here.
Free Willy, Kindergarten Cop and one of it most famous The Goonies. Be sure to pick up the booklet "Shot in Astoria from the visitors center.
A view of the Valley
Old dock pilings. I adore this picture!

The restaurant has been completely renovated and is under new ownership since this review was written. It's now John Jacob's Waterfront Grill. The food is much better and the restaurant looks nicer. The view here cannot be beat.
