Church at night

As I arrived at night this is actually the first thing I saw when I arrive to Lappeenranta, this church located somewhere at the top of the hill in town and with the special lights its look beautiful and you can see it almost from any place in town.

The Cavalry Museum - Lappeenranta
The Cavalry Museum

This is the oldest building in Lappeenranta, it is the Cavalry Museum was build in 1772, but as I was here on New Years day, it was closed and I could not visit inside.

South Karelian Art Museum - Lappeenranta
South Karelian Art Museum

This art museum located at the fortress just opposite of the Orthodox Church, the museum containing old and modern arts, but as I was here on New Years day, it was closed and I could not visit inside.

South Karelian Museum where there is also the collection from Vyborg that evacuated during the war with Russia. Vyborg is now part of the Russian Karelia.

The Fortress is the oldest part of the city, old buildings, museums, churches and coffee houses are there. A great view also the Saimaa lake.

The Orthodox Church at the fortress

It is the oldest Orthodox Church in Finland. It was established in 1785. It was the 2nd building to be build in Lappeenranta inside the fortress area.

This is a wooden church located in the centre of the city, I did not visited inside but it was looking very nice from outside on snowy day
