Rent a car - Eilat
Rent a car

If you are into driving into the desert, want to visit the Timna park, the Hai-Bar and other desert adventures you should rent a car. I was checking few companies which none is cheap, but the better deal and the good and quick service I got from Shlomo, which is also Sixt agent in Israel. I got nice Mitsubishi with air conditions of course and enjoyed my ride into the desert.

Fly - Eilat
Fly

The easiest way is to fly to Eilat. Be aware that there are two airports, the city airport just by the city centre (code: ETH) and the international Ovda airport about 70 km away (code: VDA) Because of the city airport short runway heavy load of fuel airlines that needed to fly to Europe uses the Ovda airport which was actually built as IAF base but they added a terminal for commercial flights there soon afterwards when they realize the tourism potential of it.
Currently the Ovda airport serve charter flights from the following countries: UK, France, Finland, Estonia, Poland, Ukraine & Russia.

Segway - Eilat
Segway

Oh yeah, like in the rest of the world (at list it seems so) also here that Segway arrived and you can see it somewhere around the promenade. Not that it is really useful for such a small town, but it can be just for the fun of it.

Helicopter - Eilat
Helicopter

So yes, I also saw at Eilat airport this helicopter. It did not say police or emergency so I assume this is a private one and maybe it does make tour around the gulf. Will check it out next time.

Boat cruise - Eilat
Boat cruise

Like in any coast line city also Eilat has it share of boat cruises for tourist sight seeing. Not my kind of and in many of them when they pass near use it looks to me very messy and noisy, so I am not sure how can anyone enjoy it, but some are with glass floor to enable you watch the sea life under it.

Fly your own jet - Eilat
Fly your own jet

At Eilat local small airport I could spot few private airplanes and even helicopter. So if you happened to have one, that can be also an easy way to drop to Eilat for a sunny weekend :)

Taxi - Eilat
Taxi Taxis Review

Best way to hang around is by taxi, as Eilat is so small, almost any distance is cheap.
But there are also local buses that will take you anywhere if you have the patient to wait for them :)

Road to Eilat - Eilat

Road to Eilat

Drive to Eilat

Driving to Eilat can take 4-5 hours from Tel-Aviv. However, I wouldn't recommend it in one go and if one plan such trip, a night or two stop over in some desert site can be very interesting.
