Air Racing - Basques - Skiing

by american_tourister - last update: Jun 6, 2003

A great and underutilized spot

A P-40 and me at the National Air Races
Reno is what Las Vegas was like in the late 1950s. It is almost a small town but it has major casinos with all the accompaning shows that go with it.

Reno is the gateway to Lake Tahoe and many people combine vacations to include stage shows, gambling and skiing. The skiing is world class. There are not many more breathatking sights than standing on the top run at Heavenly and looking down on the turquoise waters of lake Tahoe. I vote that Lake Tahoe is the most beautiful spot on earth.

For quick getaways my wife and I prefer Reno to Las Vegas as it is not nearly as crowded and is much friendlier.

The national air races are reason alone to come! They are one of the most awesome spectacles you can see in the air. It has everything and air show has plus the racing heats.

Reno has a sizeable Basque community that is almost unknown outside of the Northern Nevada area. Really interesting food! Try it.

Pros:"Everything that Las Vegas has without the crowds and with better weather."
Cons:"Some of it is a little shabby but it's getting better."
In A Nutshell:"ABag Vegas, this is a great place for a quick getaway."

NO WAY!! You have the recipe!!!!Please, Please, what do want for that recipe. What ever it is, I love that pan roast. If I lived up there, I would go all the time. I've searched for a recipe, there is nothing down here in L.A. that compares.

My little nephew loved going to the air races too. He was telling me about how the planes when this way and that way. I think he was talking about the Blue Angels. He was 3.

Yes, Reno has better weather than LV and the Lake Tahoe is so near.
