"Cam - Bridge" Cambridge by american_tourister

I stayed here as I was in the area to attend the Air Sho being held nearby at Duxford. I was very taken with Cambridge. It is a beautiful little town with nice people, a lively college atmosphere, and is anice respite from the grind of London.

It is named quite simply for what it originally was. It was the point where a bridge had been built over the Cam River. Ergo; Cam Bridge, Cambridge.

It is most famous for the University. the schools have all had their sahre of famous persons who attended and these include Prince Charles and the Duke of Wellington.

Bicycle-bicycle...I want to ride my bicycle

Much like the town where I attended college there are rich students and students of modest means. This parked and locked bicycle brought back a lot of memories and made me really want to go rent a bike to ride around. Alas, I just did not have enough time.

There have got to be some ducks around here

This is a shot of one of the punting stations on the Cam. The river is slow and meandering and the guides are usually students who do this for extra money. Punting on the Cam is one of those things you just have to do if you visit.

• In a nutshell:For a nice getaway from London it is close by
