October is a great month to visit Amsterdam. The weather can be very friendly and the falling leaves makes a canal boat trip even more enjoyable as all the houses are viewable from the water. We had a great three days walking and walking - eating and eating.

With great luck, I returned to wonderful Amsterdam in April, 2008. My great tour guide one day was VT's own Pieter Jan. I can't imagine a more enthusiastic or experienced person to walk around Amsterdam with.

CANALS

The canals of Amsterdam make this city a truly beautiful place. They're cleaned each night... a story unto itself. Take a canal boat ride... stroll along them... don't get lost!

Nice restaurant tips. Rice tables are great when there's a bunch of you and so I had to settle for 4 am greaseless (!!) kebabs most days. Cheers, John.

I am so glad that you mentioned sama sebo - I can alway recollect it as a fantastic indonesian restaurant & the rice table is definitley an experience. This one is definitely getting added to my Trip Planner for the boys christmas dinner weekend

Sounds like you had an ideal location just a two minute walk from the Concert Hall. I've never been to Amsterdam in October, but May was lovely too.
