Another Charming East Sussex Town

Lewes, close to Brighton, is a very picturesque and lovely town for a day's outing. There's a great deal of history here, not to mention modern craft shops and a High Street lined with the old and new architecture that makes Lewes special.

The town was the site of the historic Battle of Lewes in 1264. It is the location of several historic buildings, including Lewes Castle, the remains of Lewes Priory and the so-called Anne of Cleves House (which was owned, but never lived in, by the divorced queen).
