Croatia's most-photographed and most-visited city is Dubrovnik, a beautiful town dating back about a thousand years. Dubrovnik sits on the Dalmatian coast and faces out over the gorgeous blue waters of the Adriatic; its cliffside topography is dramatic. The city is roughly divided into three parts--the old city, surrounded by a city wall, the southeastern part of the town where the beach resorts are located, and the northwest part of the town, (including the Lapad peninsula) which is the town's more modern section.
This photograph was taken from along the western side of the city wall, looking across a bay at the Lovrjenac Fort. |

EllenH Mon Sep 11, 2006 00:14 UTC I am hoping end of september will not see so many tourists. | blint Sun Nov 14, 2004 11:01 UTC Great photos. Interesting info! I am thinking of going to live in Croatia. Do you think it best to give Dubrovnik a miss as there are too many tourists? | JLBG Sun Sep 12, 2004 15:38 UTC Another way to avoid the crowd in Dubrovnik (and elsewhere BTW!) is to visit as early as possible in the morning. Moreover, the light is better for pictures! Thank you for you interesting page. | KristaB Mon Jan 5, 2004 13:51 UTC Ok, so you made it to Dubrovnik! Don't tell everyone about beach behind Lovrijenac, please, poor locals need a place to have a break from us nosy tourists! : ))) |
